Callie, a sullen teenager who lives in the trailer park down the road from Trevor further complicates his stay in New Bern. Trevor hopes Callie can shed some light on the mysterious circumstances of his grandfather's death, but she offers few clues -- until a crisis triggers a race to find Callie's family.

In his quest to unravel Natalie and Callie's secrets, Trevor will learn the true meaning of love and forgiveness.

REVIEW

I am drawn like a moth to a flame to any Nicolas Sparks book. They are always enjoyable and uplifting and THE RETURN was no different.

THE RETURN was a delightful fast read and is essential reading for Nicholas Sparks fans. Sparks is a terrific storyteller and his writing is seamless, emotional and savvy.

Trevor Benson is a character for the ages, he is flawed, passionate, smart, and compassionate. His character drives the story and his awareness of his vulnerability with PTSD and his need for help, makes him human and not just a character in a book. You can’t help but admire his decision to remake his life as a result of his war wounds. Sparks skillfully layers Trevor interactions with Natalie and Callie and gives them intriguing stories all their own.

Nicolas Sparks attended the University of Notre Dame and writes romantic fiction and drama. He has published 21 novels and two nonfiction books all of which have have been on the New York Times bestseller’s list. Eleven of his books have been made into movies.

He lives in New Bern North Carolina, which is the setting of THE RETURN. Sparks’ inspiration for the book came from his exposure to military men and women in the area returning home from war and having to face the resulting physical, mental and emotional challenges. This book explores how the best way to help yourself is to help others.
