SUMMARY

The first thing he noticed when he woke up was the bitter cold, and then he sensed the sand, the birds, and the rumble of the waves. He was at a beach, there is a gash on his head, and it was nighttime, but where exactly and why, and most importantly, who was he.

Lily Reid is frantic when her boyfriend goes missing. He is never late, always the perfect gentleman, and he promised he would bring her breakfast this morning. He is not answering his phone. She drives through their town of Brookmount, Maryland, looking for him, and finally finds his Ford truck at the beach. She sees his wallet and phone inside the truck, but Jack Smith has disappeared. She soon discovers Jack may not have been honest with her about his identity.

Maya Scott is Jack’s Smith stepsister. She is relieved when her stepbrother, who disappeared without a trace two years ago, returns home. She will help him recover his memories, especially the ones she wants him to remember.

REVIEW

YOU WILL REMEMBER ME is a fabulous amnesia thriller of a story. It’s a riveting read with tons of twists and turns. Author Hannah Mary McKinnon cleverly tells a story of a man who has lost his memory, and his overly protective stepsister is feeding him only the memories she wants him to have. But poor Jack doesn’t know the difference.

The characters are delightfully well-drawn and the story is diabolical and gut-wrenching. The writing is absorbing, and the pacing is intense and quick.

YOU WILL REMEMBER ME is McKinnon’s fifth novel. Previous novels include Sister Dear (May 2020) and Her Secret Son (May 2019). Thanks to Netgalley for an advance reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
